As a specialist in weighing for automated processes and a technology partner of Schneider Electric, SCAIME has been focusing for several years on weighing solutions that integrate with the new automation architectures of Industry 4.0.

In the context of the smart factory, this results in the implementation of increasingly high-performance communicating load cells and weighing modules to precisely control production quality and efficiency.

To meet these requirements, SCAIME has developed eNod4, an intelligent weighing system designed for quick and easy integration into any automated system. eNod4 is a comprehensive range of weighing technology for packaging machines and automated manufacturing processes. 

Based on a modular, scalable concept, eNod4 can be used as a weighing transmitter, as a multi-application weighing controller capable of integrating into the most complex automated systems, or as a stand-alone weighing system when combined with the color touchscreens of the eNodTouch range. 

eNod4 weighing controllers feature Modbus-RTU, CANopen, PROFIBUS-DP, Modbus-TCP, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP or EtherCAT connectivity for connection to the main fieldbus and industrial Ethernet networks. 

They are available with several versions of on-board application software, covering all the weighing needs of the supply chain: 

• Version T: weighing transmitter 
• Version C: dynamic checkweighing and sorting
• Version D: Batch gravimetric dosing or filling
• Version B: Continuous weighing and batching on conveyor belt
• Version F: Continuous dosing by loss in weight 

This software, configurable via the optional eNodTouch HMI or the industrial network, enables automation engineers to reduce development and integration costs.

The eNod4 digital platform also offers a modular presentation consisting of DIN-rail housing modules, a range of flush-mounted touchscreens or touchscreens integrated directly into a waterproof stainless steel housing.  This presentation is ATEX / IECEx certified for use in hazardous zones 2/22, and enables eNod4 to be used in the agri-food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, cement production or steel manufacturing. 

Finally, eNod4 is certified to OIML R76, R51 and R61. It can therefore be used in legal metrology, for the construction of numerous automatic or non-automatic weighing instruments.

SCAIME has paid particular attention to the implementation and integration of eNod4, regularly providing new tools for integrators, users and maintenance operators. Weighing applications can be parameterized and controlled directly by the PLC, by eNodView PC software, by an eNodTouch touch screen providing an intuitive operator interface, or by the Web server integrated into Ethernet versions. 

To enhance the eNod4 user experience, all controllers in the range can benefit from the latest generation of Bluetooth® connectivity, combined with an Android application. This wireless connectivity offers the same control and parameter-setting functions as eNodTouch, from a smartphone or tablet.
